I guess its about time I wrote again. Well I'm just about at the end of the first month of three months of Police OJT known as the FTO program. Basically a seasoned officer rides with me in the cruiser and shows me the ropes, hopefully with me picking things up as we go along and becoming a self-supporting officer in three months time. Kinda like going through childhood and adolescence in 14 weeks rather than 14 years. Its going well though. I've been studying alot on my days off, learning the streets, learning state statutes, learning department policy. Lots of fun!
As for ministry, we have been helping with a church plant, Coram Deo (www.cdomaha.org). I have really enjoyed getting to do commuion once a month and have had fun trying to help us all see the different facets of the body and blood of Christ, community, God's sovereignty, service to name a few. It seems like maybe our time there is drawing to a close, but we'll see.
I've been reading "The Ragamuffin Gospel" by Brennan Manning and am seeing more and more how graceless I have been. How can you claim to have "good news" w/o grace?
I've finally started working out again AND boy does that feel good! Its funny how you let things go in life and easily forget how helpful they are to you.
I have definetly felt disconnected from God lately. No strong desire to pray or read the Bible. I think he wants me to focus on work right now. Its been an adjustment seeing doing a good job at my job as a service to God. I think I probably feel disconnected more because I still link my relationship with him to the things I do to impress him.
Because of the sweet schedule at work, I have got to spend more time with my kids individually and that has been fun. Playing cards, going out for breakfast, riding bikes to the park in this unseasonable winter weather we've been having.
All in all things are going as well as could be expected.
