A lesson on parenting

I have really been getting on my oldest daughter lately for several things. One is eating with her mouth open and another is writing sloppily on her home work papers. I got socked in the gut by words from the mouths of two of my training officers at the police department(PD).
Rachel was with me working out in the Gym at the PD and we ran into my trainer from my 1st month of employment. He asked how she was doing and in typical father form I said she did well at her parent teacher conference but that she had got knocked for having sloppy writing. With out missing a beat my partner said "Oh well your daddy struggles with that too!" And come to think of it he was right. My hand writing is sloppy and always has been and my reports often have scribble marks on them. That hurt a little but I could take it. Today my new partner turned to me as we were driving in our patrol car and asked me to stop chewing my gum with my mouth open. OUCH!!! Now that hurt. But it made think, is that how it feels to my daughter? Is chewing with your mouth open worthy of making her feel bad? Do I need to grow thicker skin? I am acting like a big whoosy pants aren't I? Is chartruesse really just green? What's the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow? Tune in next to find out...
